Day 7, Tuesday September 4
Holland gig again, this time at De Vinger in Den Haag. On the bill were also our Smash the Statues buddies, and it was nice meeting them again! We also met up with both Yvo and Wokkel, who we met last time we were in Holland. Really nice guys, and Wokkel greeted me with a nice phone video he'd made... The venue was really small, so even though there weren't millions of people, the place felt crowded. Our set started with a broken guitar cabinet, and we had to get to the van to get our spare one. Nice start, and it meant that we couldn't play our whole set. The bad start made us feel more than ready to make up for it, and I think we rocked pretty hard that night. I sure hope the crowd also think so, but it felt like they were enjoying it. It's always nice to play among friends. As a homage to our new friends, we did our sell-out routine, and actually played an old adhesive song - Dividing Lines. Why did we play an Adhesive song? To make a long story short - listen to the beginning of that, and also listen to the beginning of "The dog ate it" by the truly rocking band Antillectual. Thanks for the inspiration, guys!!! We hung out afterwards, as usual, and then headed for Wokkel's house, where we slept. Well, everyone but Niklas, because he forgot his sleeping bag in the van. It was too cold to sleep without it, and he didn't want to wake us up and ask for a blanket or something. Poor Evil Kid.
Day 8, Wednesday September 5
Back to Germany again, and the beautiful city of Saarbrücken. The venue was called Garage, and it was really nice. Unfortunately the attendance was pretty poor - tour record, but we really gave them their money's worth, I think. Sometimes when there aren't that many people showing up for the gig, you get energy from the thought that you want to give the crowd what they paid for, and more. We did our best, and I don't expect anyone leaving dissatisfied with our set. We drained the beer kegs and then went off to a really nice guy, whose name I unfortunately forgot, for some sleep. It was like coming to paradise. A warm, clean room with sweet-ass beds. The breakfast he made for us in the morning was worth Michelin stars. Unbelievable!
Day 9, Thursday September 6
Köln. Always nice to be there. We played there with Adhesive, and I've also been there with Satanic a couple of times, working for them. The general feeling I get is that they're truly professional in dealing with bands and shows. The local promotor, George, really did his best to make us feel welcome. The catering was so good that everybody ate too much, so we had to cancel dinner and eat after the show instead. Cosy. We did a good show, and the crowd was really enthusiastic. We even got to play an encore, which felt really good. We also met Dave from Horrorbiz, who released the split in Germany, and Klaudia, who works at Trashmark, the company that made our kickass merchandise. Really nice to meet them. We hung out for a while before heading for the hotel, where we slept like babies. |
