With three members of Sweden’s mighty ADHESIVE in their line-up it was pretty clear that THE INDECISION ALARM wouldn’t release a green-sounding debut. The quality of the band’s same-titled effort surprises me nonetheless. This disc features 8 songs of melodic punk-rock goodness with outstanding song-writing and an incredible amount of unfiltered passion.
I’ve to admit that I only heard two or three ADHESIVE songs in my life, but I remember I was quite impressed by the mix of straight-forward beats and stirring melodies. THE INDECISION ALARM head into a similar corner with their material, still their material comes along even more mature and urgent. For all the song-writing of this disc is awe-inspiring from start to finish. For most parts the band delivers fast beats, but at the same time their music is highly melodic and shockingly catchy. There’s a good dose of straight-up hardcore in the mix, thus THE INDECISION ALARM bring a lot of energy to the table. I guess their sound is best described as a really fast version of HOT WATER MUSIC at their “No Division” era, just even more melodic. The whiskey-drenched throats of Micke Fritz and Geir Pedersen sound pleasantly raw, while the dual guitars come up with inflationary amount of heartfelt guitar-harmonies. The balance of anger and melancholy works absolutely perfect on this EP. Songs like the racing opener “Time For The Big Guns, Baby”, “Through The Bandages” or the mind-blowing “Treadmill” feature doubtlessly some of the best hooks of 2006 and make this a must for every fan of passionate melodic hardcore/punk music.
THE INDECISION ALARM have almost left zero room for future progression, so go get this EP - it’s a true gem! – Pete @ Take The Risk, January 2007
