THE INDECISION ALARM

Se pensavate che non avreste mai più sentito il sound tipico dei Satanic Surfers, quello che ha segnato la storia del punk rock svedese e mondiale vi sbagliavate di grosso. Come vi sbagliavate se pensavate che anche i Venerea non sarebbero più comparsi sulla scena. Il sound di queste due grandi bands rivive oggi grazie agli ENEMY ALLIANCE da Malmoe, Svezia.
Iniziato come side-project per volontà di Daniel e Rodrigo, rispettivamente chitarrista dei Venerea e grande batterista dei Satanic, oggi questo nuovo gruppo è pronto a dimostrare al mondo che il punk rock svedese non è morto con lo scioglimento dei due gruppi su citati.
La loro è paragonabile ad una formazione delle All Star, di quelle che si vedono e costituiscono soltanto in occasioni particolarmente importanti. Questa formazione che comprende anche Frederik, chitarrista dei Satanic Surfers, Flygan, cantante dei Venerea alla voce, e Stefan, già bassista degli Atlas Losing Grip, non è affatto a breve termine, anzi tutt'altro. Il loro è un ottimo punk rock in stile tipicamente svedese e dai testi impegnati (Apparatus of repression, The clashing, Eruption of violence). Ottimo è il sound: pensate allo spessore tecnico dei Venerea e dei Satanic Surfers presi autonomamente, immaginate le due band che si fondono e otterrete il sound degli ENEMY ALLIANCE...a dir poco grandioso!
Il gruppo si elegge così a portabandiera della musica scandinava ed è pronta a salire sui palchi di tutto il mondo per continuare quanto di buon fatto finora dagli altri gruppi della regione. Nel disco The new wind and the second wave troviamo anche i THE INDECISION ALARM, gruppo, anch'esso svedese, che continua la tradizione degli Adhesive, altra band abbastanza conosciuta nell'ambito del punk rock anni '90.
Rispetto ai compagni di split si differenziano per il genere: il loro si avvicina maggiormente all'hc melodico degli anni '90 con accenni di punk rock che ricordano molto i canadesi Propagandi. Anche loro presentano brani molto elaborati dal punto di vista tecnico e dai testi abbastanza impegnati. Ovviamente non sono "carismatici" come gli amici ENEMY ALLIANCE, ma questo non vuol dire che non meritano le dovute attenzioni. Vi dico solo che il primo lavoro autoprodotto degli INDECISION, che risale allo scorso anno, è distribuito in America dalla quotata Tic Tac Totally Records...il che dovrebbe rendere l'idea!!!
The new wind and the second wave rappresenta davvero una nuova ventata di puro punk rock: lancia definitivamente sulla scena due nuovi gruppi che, forti del passato e delle precedenti grandiose esperienze dei rispettivi componenti, ripropongono il punk rock anni '90 facendone rivivere lo spirito originale ed autentico, ovviamente attualizzato ed aperto alle nuove influenze musicali.
Penso che questo split possa essere considerato tranquillamente il disco dell'anno, un gran lavoro che ci fa di nuovo sperare nel futuro del punk rock mondiale.
Il giudizio non può che essere positivo.
Infine non mi stancherò mai di fare i complimenti, e ringraziare per il lavoro di promozione della musica punk di qualità, la "pioniera" NO REASON RECORDS ed il suo staff: anche questa volta è riuscita a produrre un grande disco. Molto interessante è la collaborazione avviata con altre etichette europee per la promozione di questo split. Ad essa dò un'interpretazione tutta personale: si vuole forse sottolineare che il punk rock, quello vero, pur avendo "varie centrali" sparse in tutto il mondo, ha uno spirito ed un'attitudine universali!

If you thought you would never heard about the typical sound of Satanic Surfers, the one who has singed the history of swedish and world punk, you were totally wrong. As you were wrong if you thought that even Venerea wouldn’t be returned again on the scene. The sound of these two great bands re-live today thanks to ENEMY ALLIANCE from Malmoe, Sweden.
They started as side-project thanks to the will of Daniel and Rodrigo, guitarist of Venerea the first one and great drummer of Satanic the second one, and today this new band is ready to demonstrate to the world that the swedish punk rock is not dead after the end of Satanic and Venerea.
They could be considered an All Star band, like the other one who you could see only in particular occasions. This team, who involve even Frederik, guitarist of Satanic, Flygare, singer of Venerea as lead voice, and Stefan, bass player of Atlas Losing Grip, is not a short time band, but the opposite. They play a great punk rock in typical swedish style with political lyrics (Apparatus of repression, The clashing, Eruption of violence). Great is the sound: you’ve to think about the technical approach of Venerea and Satanic Surfers, think about the two bands unite togheter and you’ll have the Enemy alliance sound...fuckin’ great!
The band can be elected as rappresentant of scandinavian music and they’re ready to play worldwide as other bands has just done before. In the split cd, we find even THE INDECISION ALARM, another swedish band, who continue where Adhesive, another well known 90’s band, has stopped.
Differently to their split mate, they play a different genre: their sound is more similar to melodic hc of the 90’s with punk rock inserts similar to the canadians Propaghandi. They even present a technical approach with political lyrics. They’re not carismatics as Enemy Alliance, but this wouldn’t say that they aren’t able to be under attention. I’ve to say to you that the first DIY release of TIA, from the last year, is distributed in America by the well known TicTacTotally records...so what’s the fuck!!!
The new wind and the second wave represents really a new wind of pure punk rock: it definitely launch on the scene two new bands who, strong about their past and their great past experiences, play again the 90’s punk rock, keep the original and pure spirit of it, obviously actuallized and open to the new musical influences.
I can surely consider this cd as “record of the year”, a great work who could give to us a new hope about the future of world punk rock.
At the end, I can’t never stop to give greetings for the promotional works with quality punk music, to the “pioneers” of NoReason Records and their staff: even this time they’ve been able to release a great record.
Very interesting is the collaboration with the other european labels who take care of the release in the other states.
I can give a personal interpretation to it: maybe it would be underline that punk rock, the real one, even if has “various industries” all over the world, has a universal spirit and attitude!
