THE INDECISION ALARM

La prima cosa che salta subito alle orecchie ascoltando, anche solo un po’ distrattamente quest’ottimo split fra Enemy Alliance e The Indecision Alarm è la sua freschezza.

Una cascata di chitarre rumorose, una sezione ritmica incandescente sostenuta da cori a profusione, che catturano immediatamente l’attenzione dell’ascoltatore senza lasciargli campo. Insomma, una buona dose di caro vecchio hardcore melodico di scuola anni Novanta, come quello che una dozzina d’anni fa infiammava i cuori dei giovani punk-rockers di tutto il mondo. Una folta schiera di ragazzetti con i pantaloni sotto il ginocchio, le Vans ai piedi, le magliette più larghe di qualche taglia e magari la tavola da skate sottobraccio.

Amarcord a parte (scusate, è la vecchiaia che incombe) “The new wind and second wave” è uno di quei dischi che potrebbero rappresentare la degna ripartenza per un genere, che negli ultimi quattro anni (o anche più) ha perso quel suo tocco magico ed è stato sostituito nei cuori dei nuovi “punk” dall’emo-core e dallo screamo.

E chissà se a spianare la nuova strada al buon vecchio hc non saranno proprio questi due gruppi, due all star band che raccolgono tra le proprie fila alcuni campione del genere? Gli Enemy Alliance, infatti, non sono altro che Rodrigo e Fredrik (ex Satanic Surfers) e Dana e Flygare (Venerea), mentre negli Indecision Alarm militano tre componenti dei devastanti Adhesive. Due nuovi progetti, per alcuni dei musicisti simbolo della scena svedese, che proprio nei Novanta sfornavano il meglio dell’hc melodico in campo non solo europeo, ma anche mondiale.

A dimostrare questa continuità ci sono i dodici pezzi di quest’album, uscito in Italia per la sempre più intraprendete No Reason Records. Sei canzoni a testa, che denotano una certa uniformità e una grande compattezza di fondo, nonostante si parli di due gruppi diversi. Gli Enemy Alliance sono forse quelli più votati alle ritmiche aggressive, come dimostrano l’opener “Apparatus of repression” e la bellissima “Government Subsidzed of Ghetto”, mentre gli Indecision Time preferiscono mantenere una vena più melodica e rock’n’roll, senza per questo perdere in potenza (ascoltate “Violence, Coercion, Surveillance” e "Making Bets in a Burning House” e traetene le vostre conclusioni).

A tutto questo si aggiunge anche un libretto bello e curato in ogni sua minima parte, un collage di immagini che farà la gioia degli amanti dei vecchi film horror. Senza dubbio uno dei dischi punk più interessanti del 2007.
The first aspect who can be reached immediatly listening to this cool slit cd between Enemy Alliance and The Indecision Alarm is that is fresh. A noise guitars barrier, a hot drum section substeined by powerful chois who immediatly capture the attenction of the listener without giving a way of excape. Well, a great charge of the old great melodic hc from the 90’s school, like the one who captured the heart of the young punk-rockers all over the world. A lot of guys with shorts under the knees, with the Vans on their feet, t-shirts large and maybe the skateboard in the hands.
Amarcord away (sorry, I’m becaming old) “The new wind and the second wave” is one of the cds who could rappresent very good the return of the genre who has losts in the last 4 years (or maybe more) its magic touch and it has been substituted in the heart of the new “punk” kids by emo-core and screamo.
Will the return of the old good hc be signed by these bands, two all star bands with champions of the genre in their team?Enemy Alliance are Rodrigo and Friederik (ex Satanic Surfers) and Dana and Flygare (Venerea), while The Indecision Alarm are formed by ¾ of the devasters Adhesive. Two new projects for some of the most rappresentative musicians from the Swedish scene, who played the best melodic hc music of the 90’s, not only in Europe, but all over the world. To demonstrate this will of going on there are 12 tracks of this album, released in Italy by the always great guys of NoReason Records. 6 songs to each one, who show a uniformity and great compact sound, as demonstrated the opener track “Apparatus of repression” and the beautiful “Government subsidized ghetto”, while The Indecision Alarm love to mantain a more melodic and rock’n’roll vein, without lose the power (listen to “violence, Cohercion, Surveillance” and “Making Bets in a burning house” and you’ll understand what I mean).
There’s also a very beautifull booklet, with a collage of images who will make happy the fans of the old horror films.
It’s one of the most interesting punk cds of 2007 without any dubts.
