Last year Sweden’s THE INDECISION ALARM blew me away with their debut EP, thus I was totally psyched when I heard about this split-release with Sweden’s freshly formed ENEMY ALLIANCE. Each band contributes 6 songs and to make it short, it’s simply impossible to ignore this disc in your year-end play-list!
ENEMY ALLIANCE make the start, five dudes that played in the infamous SATANIC SURFERS and VENEREA before. Admittedly, I had to look twice into the booklet to assure myself it was actually ENEMY ALLIANCE, who start things off, since their sound is fairly close to THE INDECISION ALARM’s anthemic emo/punk-rock. Their 6 tracks are all about fast and highly melodic punk-rock goodness and bring together the best of bands like STRIKE ANYWHERE, JAWBREAKER, LIFETIME and even HOT WATER MUSIC. The guitars are powerful, yet all the way through extremely melodic, while the raw singing-style adds the mentioned HOT WATER MUSIC flair. You can hear the band’s experience with every track, since the song-writing is absolutely catchy and to the point. Every tune stands out in several ways, while the production is sharp and absolutely powerful. What can I say? Don’t miss out on one of the most amazing new bands around!
THE INDECISION ALARM already made quite some waves with their fantastic debut and their new material is in no way less outstanding. A hint calmer than ENEMY ALLIANCE the band makes it through 6 songs of emo-influenced punk-rock goodness and demonstrates how heartfelt music can actually be. Touching vocals, outstanding guitar-work and powerful rhythms result in a cocktail that is plain irresistible and needs to be heard. Imagine a faster and even more anthemic version of early HOT WATER MUSIC, add some spine-shivering GAMEFACE-like fragility here and there plus a solid amount of hardcore-energy and you have THE INDECISION ALARM. Songs like “Alienation Process” and “Rod Of Iron” (with the most audible GAMEFACE touch) are absolutely priceless these days, while the concluding “Making Bets In A Burning House” plays in its’ own, absolutely outstanding league.
No fake, no bullshit, just unfiltered emotion - that’s what this disc is all about. Music needs awe-inspiring bands like these to survive. Thank you, boys!
